Intro to Botany and Plant Families
In this workshop, we’ll explore a framework to develop a deliberate connection with the botanical world by drawing the plant structures of seedlings in various plant families.

Perennial plants and flowers are the inspiration for our exploration into color matching and experimentation with watercolors. With a little guidance to help you discover your inner naturalist, this workshop will leave you more confident in your painting abilities and add a rainbow of colors to your nature journal. Basic watercolor supplies will be provided for you to practice techniques for matching and drawing garden flowers.

As we slow down and observe nature, we will explore color and practice technique with drawing materials including crayons and ink. We will also play with resist techniques.

Rose Roots or Charles Hay? Seeds and Seed Pods

Led by the natural course of a plant’s life cycle, the fall season offers the opportunity to discover the fertile world of seeds and seed pods. In this nature journaling workshop, you will learn about the different methods plans use to disperse seeds and record the seed shapes you encounter in a garden scavenger hunt.
Majestic View Nature Center
Join us as we relax and connect with nature at the Majestic View Nature Center. Observing the majestic trees and Rocky Mountains as a backdrop, we will explore opportunities for creating background washes in our journals using water color and natural inks made from acorns and black walnuts.
Carson Nature Center
Let’s take a moment to just sit still and breathe in all that’s around us. We will talk a bit about the poetry in everyday moments. And then delve into winter trees and how to use shades from black to white to draw them and to explain the recurring triangle fractal of tree branches you can see in winter when the leaves are gone.
